Bed & Biscuit

Exceeding Your Expectations

What is this all about?

A lot of families have been very interested in Homestyle Pet Sitting! We like to call this our Bed & Biscuit option. It is a premium service we offer our clients, in our home. We have three dogs of our own (Sully- black lab mix, 14 y/o, Boo- Border Collie mix, 8 and Loki- Border Collie Mix, 8 months old) so we strive to have dog-friendly dogs stay with us. Our house is an excellent place for dogs to have fun and live their best life until you return.

Your pup’s comfort is our priority!

Environment

We have enough room that your pup can mingle with our pups or have their very own space. Pups who stay with us are treated like family and are welcome to sleep where they're most comfortable (our bed, their doggie bed of choice, the couch, etc.). Furry friends that are crated overnight can have their crate in our room or in their very own doggie room where I will join them so that they have company. If they like to get in the water, we have an in-ground pool for supervised swims during the warmer months of the year. We also have a fenced in yard and the pool itself has a fence around it for safety purposes. With approval, we also take pups to the local park for walks.

Our home is in Hampstead and it's a fun place for pups of all ages to stay! We clean our home daily and have a professional cleaning company come out every other week as well to help keep our environment as nice as possible. We are not a kennel and do not operate like one. We do not have “runs” and the pups that stay with us are able to roam about our home with us as they please. Due to our low volume/low stress environment we can ensure our guests are getting the attention, enrichment and care that they deserve. We work hard to provide a level of individualized care that exceeds what large volume kenneling facilities can offer.

Evaluation

We like to do an evaluation prior to your first booking to ensure it's a good fit for all. During the evaluation we will be assessing your pup to see if they're comfortable in our environment. They will romp and play, we will evaluate how they do in a crate and/or free roaming, their potty habits, socialization skills with other dogs, temperament etc. We have to see that your dog is fully potty trained, non aggressive/reactive, and able to stay in a crate or free roam safely.

Although one of us is home most hours of the day, there will be occasions where we may have to leave for a brief period of time. Pups who stay with us need to be comfortably crate trained or able to free-roam without causing self-harm or damage. During the evaluation we assess each pup to ensure they do not show any signs of extreme separation anxiety or distress when left alone.

Not all dogs are comfortable in all environments and that’s ok. We hold the evaluation because your dog and their happiness are our priority!

Evaluation dates and times are scheduled based on availability and dependent on how soon you need care. We try to be as flexible as possible when scheduling evaluations and do our best to work with our clients when our schedules allow. Evaluations take about 2 hours to complete and are weather pending as we need to see both indoor and outdoor behaviors.

Documents:

We have a Pet Profile, Terms/Agreement and Veterinary Release forms that we will need submitted prior to holding an evaluation to ensure we have as much info on your pup as possible to help our evaluation (and potential stays) go as smooth as possible. We will also ask for proof of current vaccinations. All required forms will need to be submitted prior to evaluation day for review.

Evaluation days are designed to give us a chance to get to know your pup without the client being present so that we can get an accurate assessment.

We are not able to hold dates or book reservations until evaluations are complete.

Reservations

If you have reservation dates in mind, please email us so we can check availability. We will need to know estimated drop-off and pickup dates and times in order to provide accurate information.

We operate on a no verbal holds and a "first come, first serve" style booking policy based on current availability.

Potential Clients: Reservations cannot be finalized until clients have completed their evaluation. We highly recommend that new clients start the on-boarding process as soon as possible since it does take time to schedule the evaluation and get all documents completed.

Additional Info

We emphasize and reinforce 5 main rules of canine good citizenship while your pup stays with us:

-No fighting

-No marking or going potty in the house

-No bolting through open doors, gates or fences

-No destructive chewing bahaviros

-No excessive barking

We aim to have a stress-free environment overall and although barking is normal, we cannot accommodate excessive barkers. We are willing to work with puppies until they develop these skills and are also willing to work with dogs who are less social than others and prefer their own space. We are not able to accommodate dogs that are reactive or people-aggressive in any way.

We encourage new clients to consider booking a night or weekend with us prior to leaving town for a trip so your pup has additional time to get used to our environment, but it is not required!
